July 1998 Elizabethan Wedding Gown
A traditional 16th Century dress which would have been worn at court. The fabric is a cream rayon/cotton blend brocade. The undergarments had to be custom made for the bride. This included a chemise, corset, and hip roll. The skirt is split down the front to reveal the petticoat beneath. Pearl piping was used at the waist, neckline, and sleeve bottoms. The sleeves are tied with ribbon and brass points.
The bride is a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms. She was very specific about the dress being as authentic as possible, which required a lot of research and attention to detail.
